Apparently Jesse Jackson thinks it ok for Newt Gingrich to call Pres. Obama the Food Stamp president. From this article Jesse states:
Rev. Jackson used his regular Saturday morning service at the Rainbow PUSH headquarters on the South Side this weekend to put a different spin in Gingrich’s remarks. Jackson said, “It’s an honor to be a food stamp president.” Speaking to his congregation, Rev. Jackson listed the benefits of the program, which has grown some sixty-one percent over the past four years. About forty-six million people now receive food assistance,
In his remarks, Rev. Jackson went on to say, “Food stamps feed the hungry. Food stamps save the children. Food stamps help the farmer. Food stamps help the truck driver. Food stamps help the warehouse. Food stamps help the store. Food stamps hire people and feed people. Food stamps save people from starvation and malnutrition.”
In remarks directed at Gingrich’s characterization of President Obama, Rev. Jackson said,” Whenever you attack feeding the hungry, you undermine the moral authority of our faith.”
It’s this attitude by Jesse Jackson which has kept the poor in this country down and unable to compete in our capitalistic society. This is the difference between Newt Gingrich and Obama in that they see the role of government very differently. Obama wants to support people in every aspect of their lives. Newt on the otherhand wants to set people free by creating an economy where they will be able to find a decent paying job. Hopefully this election the poor realize they are being duped by the Democrats in that they are trading their votes for a life of being controlled by the government.
